Reading (7 marks)
Read the following passage then answer the questions:
Ann started helping her mum make biscuits when she was five. Of course, she could not do everything on her
own at that age, but she soon became especially good at decorating biscuits. She could make colourful designs
that everyone loved.
Then her mum helped her to start making cakes – like her brother’s birthday cake in the shape of a car. She
managed to add lots of details like the windows and wheels and he loved it! So did the other children – and
their mothers. Soon, one of them asked for another one. She had to make this in the shape of a princess’s
castle! More orders followed. Then a cake shop asked her to supply them. Ann was worried about time, but
they offered a special arrangement: Ann did not have to accept all their orders – only the ones that she could
manage. This week’s project is a wedding cake for 100 people!
